About Scott Robertson

Scott Robertson is a lifelong drummer, educator, and band leader whose musical journey began in 1968 with the White Spot Pipe Band under the mentorship of Don Bellamy. From those formative years playing on an oak table in a Vancouver basement, Scott moved on to join the world-class Triumph Street Pipe Band, where he spent nearly two decades honing his craft. It was here that his passion expanded beyond pipe band drumming, sparking a lifelong interest in jazz and drum set performance. His love of drums led him to the iconic “Drums Only!” store, a vibrant hub for Vancouver’s drumming community, where he eventually worked, studied, and absorbed a wealth of real-world experience.

Scott later formalized his musical education at Vancouver Community College’s Jazz and Commercial Music program and studied with elite instructors across North America. Since 1989, he has led bands under his own name, performing everywhere from grand hotels and concert halls to parades and coffee houses. As a dedicated teacher and coach, he’s trained drummers of all ages and skill levels, and currently works with the award-winning RMM Pipe Band. Through it all, Scott remains committed to professionalism, musical excellence, and creating unforgettable performances with musicians he’s proud to share the stage with.

Scott Robertson's "Phat Santa Swing!" has graced the Vancouver Christmas Market each year since we opened our doors. They consistently bring the magic of the season to life with their vibrant and nostalgic renditions of holiday classics, ensuring our guests feel the true joy of Christmas. The professionalism and reliability of the band have made them an essential part of our market since 2010.

Suburban Swing hosts an exciting Sunday night dance at the Matsqui Community Hall, and our live band nights are always an event. Scott Robertson’s “Swing Patrol!” brings an infectious energy that lights up the dance floor every time. His nostalgic tunes resonate perfectly with lindy hop enthusiasts and fans of 1940s music, making each evening a memorable experience. With his professionalism and reliability, I wholeheartedly recommend “Swing Patrol!”
for an unforgettable musical experience!

White Rock Jazz has been hosting regular Sunday events for three decades now. For over twenty years, Scott Robertson has been a staple on our bandstand. His bands, “Swing Patrol!” and “The White Rock Rhythm Kings,” have become two
of our most popular acts. Scott’s professionalism shines through in both his performances and when he contracts his bands. Our club members always fill the dance floor every time his bands take the stage.

President, White Rock Jazz
